On the Road to Quality Interpreting

21 January 2008

On the forefront of the language professionals training:
B&A launches a new training program

Happy New Year to all of you! In the spirit of making 2008 a great year for Michiganders, B&A is advancing its training program for interpreters and translators. In addition to the regular training sessions on consecutive or simultaneous interpreting, sight translation or on the structure of the legal system in Michigan, B&A is launching the new training format: Monthly Mentoring Meetings.

The meetings will be held once a month one the same day. They will be dedicated to a specific concern ranging from practical interpretation and application of the standards of practice in healthcare interpreting to coping with stress in immigration interpreting. A dual format will be introduced to make the training more productive. One month a panel of veteran language professional sharing their experiences on a particular subject and monitoring discussions. The next month the attendees will be learning from guest speakers who are experts in various fields, such as IP attorneys, immigration attorneys, healthcare providers, social workers, mental health professionals, insurance adjusters and so on. These sessions will be shorter in duration allowing more flexibility for the busy language professionals. As usual B&A will be glad to welcome all interpreters and translators, whether they belong to the B&A family of language professionals or not. If you are interested in attending or would like to volunteer your time as an industry expert, please contact us at 313-871-0080. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
