ASL contest!July 17, 2015
July 26 is the 25th anniversary of The Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA). The ADA is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of disability in all areas of public life and promotes accessibility to jobs, schools, and transportation. It was the world's first comprehensive law guaranteeing equal rights to persons with hearing, vision, speech or other impairment.
As language service providers and advocates for American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting and education, we would like to celebrate this major civil rights breakthrough. Did you know that ASL is the third most studied language in the U.S.? Are you native or fluent in ASL or do you know someone who is? Are you studying the language or fascinated by it and wish you could learn it? We'd love to see you sign!
From July 17 to July 26 we are running a contest to award restaurant coupons to those who send us their their best signing photos or videos via firstname.lastname@example.org, share them on our Facebook page or via twitter RT. The winners will be announced on Monday July 27!
